Loved the name of the Auto repair shop.  McGyver's.  So I put my McGyver in the picture too.  This place is across the street from our apt. building.
This sweet little lady sat next to me on the bus for 30 minutes and told me her whole life story without me ever saying a word in response.  She was with her daughter and was so happy to talk.  I think she was a little senile because she repeated herself a lot.  I loved it . When I got off, I kissed her on the cheek and she just started to cry. It was a wonderful sweet experience.
My favorite little "shop on the corner" just below our apt. window.  It was 4:00 in the afternoon as a big thunderstorm  came through that was so big it washed decorative rocks and mud down from the hill above covering the whole street.
Elder Smith from St George,Utah and Elder Sanchez, a Brazileiro  waiting for his visa to go to Argentina.  Notice the great pansies in front of the sign.  This is the entrance to the Area Offices behind the Temple.
Elder and Sister Osorio, temple missionaries from Portugal. They went with us and Elder and Sister Clark to 25 of March or Vinte Cinco de Marco, the long street of shops and vendors with no cars.  Fun place because everything is cheaper than anywhere else in the city.

Brother and Sister Martins and Family.  He owns Wizard, the largest  Language  Training  Schools in Brazil.  He was the one that donated the tickets.   His company was one of the sponsorsof the event.
Elder and Sister Andrew, Secretary to the Area Presidency in Brazil.  This is their  3rd mission in Brazil.  They are from Cedar Hills, Utah,  Just up the street from us.  Didn't know them before but had heard about them.  Great People.
Cirque du Soliel show in Sao Paulo.  Rick couldn't  go  so  I asked my friend and neighbor Clayde who helps teach me Portuguese.  It was amazing.  The tickets were given to us by the Area Presidency.
Here is the temperature guage (American) helping me tell the right temperature in the oven while making brownies.  I have to keep adjusting the knob to keep the right temperature.
Making brownies in my Easy Bake Oven.  I have to sit with a flashlight and watch the temperature gauge to make sure it stays at the right temperature. There are open spaces in the oven where I can see the floor so I put a tile on the bottom to help hold the heat.

Riding to a Zone Conference with Presitente Prieto in Rebeiro Preto, Brazil.  Notice the flat  farming country and 4 lane highway.  He is driving at 100mph.  He also liked to race through the electronic toll booths to see how close he could get to the electronic arm that would automatically go up after reading the sticker on the window.  I would put my hands over my eyes as he cut it very close a couple of times.
Packed in the car with missionaries and boxes for Zone Conference.
Missionaries only get mail at Zone Conferences every 3 months so they are very excited to receive their packages from home.

  1. What a fabulous update! Those were such great pictures that gave us a little glimpse of your experiences there. I cannot believe your oven! What a funny little thing! It's so easy to take for granted the little comforts of life, isn't it? I'll think of you the next time I make brownies, and be grateful I don't have to babysit them with a flashlight. Either way, I would still put money down that yours would taste a million times better than mine.

    Love you!
